Bargaining

The primary purpose of the union is to bargain on behalf of the members to secure fair compensation and good working conditions for the members.

Each Local 7000 unit bargains according to its own cycle, corresponding for the most part to the budget cycle of the unit's employer. Bargaining teams are informed by the will of the members, which is discovered through the surveys returned by the members. Please participate by returning surveys reflecting your concerns.

Stewards are always available to hear your ideas, but participation in the unit meetings is the most direct method of influencing your leadership. The union needs your participation to be strong and effective. Very strong members can serve on committees and even the bargaining team itself.

Bargaining teams are comprised of the unit vice-president and three other members elected by the membership. The teams bargain under the guidance of the CWA Local 7000 president. To contact your bargaining team, besides returning your survey, you may send email to

The CWA Triangle symbolizes the three essential activities of the union: representation, organizing, and political/community action. None can stand alone. If the triangle is broken on any side, sooner or later it will be broken on every side.
